	Govt. Polytechnic Ambikapur is located in tribal belt of the Chhattisgarh state. It is the district Headquarter of the Sarguja Distt. This district is a remotely located, economically backward district of India mainly consisting primitive tribes such as Korwas & Pandows blessed by mineral resources, dense forest & ample water & human
resources surrounded by Coal & Bauxite industries together with Thermal Power plants. The nearest railway station is Bishrampur ( 26 km.) . The nearest bigger cities are Bilaspur (230 km.) & Raipur (358 km.) connected by Roadways. Govt. Polytechnic College Ambikapur was established in 1982 with a proposal of single branch in Civil Engg. The foundation was led by Er. S. N. Awasthy, the first Principal of this institute. The campus of the institute is spread in 20.18 acres. The current details of the academic programs are as follows:
